The Water Witch by Juliet Dark
"You have only to call my name to bring me back", he whispered, his breath hot in my ear. "You have only to love me to make me human". Callie McFay is the guardian of the last gateway between the world of Faerie and mankind. Seduced by a powerful incubus demon, she has succeeded in banishing Liam to the Borderlands but he still haunts her dreams, tempting her with the knowledge of how to bring him back. But loving an incubus usually ends in death for a human. For her own sake Callie must learn to control her desires and ensure Liam remains trapped for all eternity in his watery prison. Only there is a more dangerous creature than Liam in the Borderlands. The Water Witch is also looking for a way back...
My thoughts:
This was an interesting follow up to Juliet Dark's book The Demon Lover. Callie McFay is charged with opening the door to Faerie, but she brings something back with her.....
I enjoyed this book, but not as much as the first one. Maybe it's just because I kept guessing at things lol, not sure. I enjoyed the addition of new characters, although I felt like nothing was mentioned about Callie's teaching in this book. I missed that.
The ending of the book gave me the chills, I'm very excited to see what happens next in Callie's story.

The Demon Lover by Juliet Dark
Since accepting a teaching position at remote Fairwick College in upstate New York, Callie McFay has experienced the same disturbingly erotic dream every night: A mist enters her bedroom, then takes the shape of a virile, seductive stranger who proceeds to ravish her in the most toe-curling, wholly satisfying ways possible. Perhaps these dreams are the result of her having written the bestselling book The Sex Lives of Demon Lovers. Callie’s lifelong passion is the intersection of lurid fairy tales and Gothic literature—which is why she’s found herself at Fairwick’s renowned folklore department, living in a once-stately Victorian house that, at first sight, seemed to call her name.
But Callie soon realizes that her dreams are alarmingly real. She has a demon lover—an incubus—and he will seduce her, pleasure her, and eventually suck the very life from her. Then Callie makes another startling discovery: Her incubus is not the only mythical creature in Fairwick. As the tenured witches of the college and the resident fairies in the surrounding woods prepare to cast out the demon, Callie must accomplish something infinitely more difficult—banishing this supernatural lover from her heart.
My thoughts:
Wow! This was an amazing book, I devoured it, staying up much too late to read at night. I'm such a huge fan of the paranormal genre, this book sucked me in right away. The character's were so well developed, I felt as though I knew all of them.
I adore Callie, she's so smart with that romantic side I love in my mc's. The progression of her as a person was interesting to watch. In the beginning she was more closed off, lost in the pages of the books she read. She's exposed to a world she had always believed to not be real, and took it all in stride. She's visited at night by a dream lover, who makes all others pale in comparison.
One by one, the people in her life are revealed to be more than what they are. She is more than what she thought she was. It was a blast to watch it all unfold.
I don't want to give away too much, because you all need to read this one. I cannot wait to read the next book in this series!!!

Splintered by A.G. Howard
This stunning debut captures the grotesque madness of a mystical under-land, as well as a girl’s pangs of first love and independence. Alyssa Gardner hears the whispers of bugs and flowers—precisely the affliction that landed her mother in a mental hospital years before. This family curse stretches back to her ancestor Alice Liddell, the real-life inspiration for Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Alyssa might be crazy, but she manages to keep it together. For now.
When her mother’s mental health takes a turn for the worse, Alyssa learns that what she thought was fiction is based in terrifying reality. The real Wonderland is a place far darker and more twisted than Lewis Carroll ever let on. There, Alyssa must pass a series of tests, including draining an ocean of Alice’s tears, waking the slumbering tea party, and subduing a vicious bandersnatch, to fix Alice’s mistakes and save her family. She must also decide whom to trust: Jeb, her gorgeous best friend and secret crush, or the sexy but suspicious Morpheus, her guide through Wonderland, who may have dark motives of his own.
My thoughts:
This book was wonderfully creepy. I have been attracted to the Alice in Wonderland story ever since I was little. This is not the Alice of your youth. Enter Alyssa, a troubled teen who talks to bugs and flowers with a mom in the nut house and a lineage tainted by the Lidell craziness. Never feeling like she really fit in, in love with someone who she can not have.
In a moment of clarity, her insane mother lets slip things about their family lineage that will send Alyssa and her love Jeb tumbling into a world very unlike their own. Here Alyssa's memories will awaken, and someone from her past will appear. Will Alyssa be able to save both herself and her mother before it's too late??
There were so many twists and turns in this book, I never knew what would happen next, I was just along for the ride. You'll both love and hate Morpheus, I'm still not entirely sure how I feel about him lol. I really hope this will be a series, I loved the book so much. 5 enthusiastic stars

Hi....remember me?
Hi all, sorry its been so long since I've posted something. To say that my life has been crazy would be an understatement. My husband started the Sheriff's Academy in August, so the home life has been a bit chaotic. Also, I've been doing a lot of writing, two books are almost ready to publish! Chasing the Witch will be out November 28th, and Love and Blood should be out in December or January. Also being on the blog tour and writing a bunch of guest posts has taken up some time. I actually like doing them because it's a chance to connect with new fans!
I decided to foray into YA....a brand new series. I'm excited about it, the characters have been really fun so far. It's paranormal (you knew it would be lol) and there will be some ghosts in it. I'll post a teaser as soon as I can!
Hope you all have an amazing weekend!!!
